I've used many electric toothbrushes over the years, including the ultrasonic ones, but ultimately my brand loyalty is firmly with Braun and the Oral B Range.

I bought two of these to replace our ageing Oral B Triumph Pro Care toothbrushes and the performance has exceeded my expectations. The toothbrush design has been improved with the shoulders of the handle being more sloped, so the tendency to gather claggy toothpaste residue is much reduced and the black rubberised finish just looks classy. The girth of the handle is also slimmer and the whole thing just feels more ergonomic and powerful in use than the older brushes ever did. The operating button is covered with a membrane for waterproofing and is faultless in function, whereas the older brushes had a chrome button that just clogged up, with the inevitable toothpaste residue that you always get, despite rinsing after every use.

There is an indicator light on the handle that flashes red when the charge is low and flashes green when charging, before going solid green when fully charged. The charge time has varied by an hour between my two brushes but takes approx 8hours using the 240v bathroom shaver socket powerpoint, but you can also use the supplied charger on 110v shaver socket supplies, which is ideal when travelling abroad. I get 8-9 days of twice daily use on a single charge, but that does vary as sometimes I don't do the full two minutes each time due to boredom!

The brush is supplied with one cross-action head, but the best bit is the hard carrying case that is included with the capacity to hold the brush and two heads. The number of times I've packed my toothbrush containing toilet-bag into a weekend bag only to find the damn brush going off in transit you wouldn't believe, so thankfully this problem is now resolved. The two minute brush cycle gives you 30second reminders for the four quadrants of your mouth and leaves your teeth with that dentist clean, silky smooth feeling each time.

It may not have all the bells and whistles of the more expensive models, but to be honest you really don't need any more than what this brush offers and in my opinion the less clutter the better!
